"Elisa, are you sure you wish to do this?"
"Goliath, you've asked me that six times since we got here. I'm sure. It's a beautiful night. Everyone in East Hampton is at the carnival or watching the fireworks. We couldn't have found a better time or a more perfect place." She unzipped her bomber jacket and dropped it to the grass at her feet, then slipped out of her shoes.
The gargoyle pulled his mate into his arms. Desire and aching need, never far from the surface when she was near, silenced any further protest to reason. They'd come to the countryside to get away from their ever-present burdens. It had been Elisa's idea. A respite, she'd called it. Two nights to call their own. Two nights to be beholden to no one but themselves.
She had found this place, this haven. A deserted bluff above the beach with a cave where they could shelter during the day. But daylight was hours away... and right now, Elisa's clothing was becoming a distinct inconvenience. He tugged at her tee shirt, careful, despite his impatience, not to damage the fragile garment.
She helped, pulling the shirt over her head. It joined her jacket on the grass only to be followed a moment later by her bra. "Better?"
He growled eagerly and nuzzled at hollow of her throat. "Much," the gargoyle replied as her bare flesh pressed against his.
Her hands roamed, stroking sensitive skin at his waist. He drew a sharp breath as his loincloth slid to the grass and Elisa's head dipped to kiss turgid flesh.
She stepped away, fumbled with the catch of her jeans. Denim and the skimpy cotton underneath gave way to golden skin and the dark triangle of her sex. Her musk carried on the soft summer breeze and Goliath could wait no longer.
He scooped her into his arms. She wrapped her legs around his hips and their flesh joined. Elisa hissed in pleasure and grabbed a handful of the gargoyle's sable hair as her arms twined tightly around his neck.
Goliath cradled his human lover tightly and bounded off the cliff.
His wings snapped open, grabbing the current, and Elisa cried out as land gave way to nothingness. He soared high over the ocean. Away from the human inhabitants of the island. Away from the fireworks on the opposite shore. Away from duty and responsibility. Away from everything but his lover and the dark, moonless night. Goliath reveled as he bent his mouth to Elisa and kissed the lids of her eyes.
They fluttered open. Her lips rounded into a startled "O" as Goliath rolled lazily on the current.
"Do not worry, my love. I have no intention of letting you get away." He flexed his hips. Elisa sighed appreciatively. Secure in her lover's arms, she began to knead the muscles of his neck and shoulders, earning a contented purr of her own.
They lost the eddy of wind and Goliath tumbled. Elisa gasped as he penetrated her deeper. Terror warred with pleasure, and when she dared open her eyes again she was riding astride him. The brawny gargoyle smiled devilishly up at her and cupped her breasts, squeezing gently on the sensitive flesh. Pleasure, white-hot and aching, coursed through her.
She ground her hips hard against his, used her hands to push away and then ground down again. Goliath bucked against her, meeting her thrusts with his own, over and over again, pushing them both closer to the edge.
The wind shifted and the pair rolled again, dipping and gaining altitude. The tumbling motion was more than Elisa could bear. Wave after wave of pleasure engulfed her, making her oblivious to their danger as Goliath lost control in the throes of his own release.
They fell. Dark water rose to meet them. Hugging his lover with trembling arms, Goliath spread his wings...
And caught an updraft. The pair soared high over the bay, locked in a tangle of arms and legs.
Elisa pressed her lips to Goliath's chest, nipping softly at overheated flesh. Aerial love play had its place, but some things were much better on land. He kissed the top of her head and made for their bluff.
"Goliath?" Elisa said softly as he touched down on the cliff top. She tried to struggle from his grasp, but he only shook his head and carried her the short distance to the cave.
It had a narrow entrance and, reluctantly, Goliath set his mate on her feet long enough to traverse the short passage to the hollow proper. Inside, sheltered from view, was their campsite, illuminated by soft lantern glow. "Come here, my Elisa," he commanded softly as he pulled her down onto the sleeping bag.
Gladly, Elisa complied, content to cradle her head against the gargoyle's muscular chest. "That was amazing," she said softly. "Amazing and scary. But mostly, amazing." She smiled as she captured a lock of Goliath's sable hair between her fingers and toyed with it. "Can we do it again?"
